Mack von Marbach is a gorgeous 18 month old classic looking German Shepherd. He's a well built, picture perfect shepherd, the type people want to come up to and admire. He knows his commands and is a definite favorite with the volunteers. Mack is one of those dogs that would LOVE to have an active life with someone. Maybe a single person who loves to hike and/or run every day; or a couple who is active and will keep this very smart, loyal and eager to please shepherd busy and challenged. He has a definite alpha personality and will need an owner who will establish the 'ranking' order in the household - in other words: human is the leader, dog is the follower. Once Mack has such a person working with him he becomes very strongly bonded and will fall in love with his person. He's that typical shepherd: intelligent, strong minded, loyal and very protective. He would do best in a home as either an only dog or with a more submissive female. At this point he should probably go to a home without children. Mack also has a high prey drive so a home without cats, small dogs and small critters is a must.
